"Every Bone Tells a Story" by Jill Rubalcaba. The authors offer an engaging account of the discovery of four early hominids, and the laboratory deductions that scientists made in learning more about them. In the process, the reader will discover the very specialized aspects of the field of archaeology, and how new technology can change both scientists' theories and the way we view the past.

Dear Editor, The Public Forum respondent in the Oct. 4 Tribune - "Kilby statue is an affront to heritage" - doesn't deserve much acknowledgement; but, to paraphrase the historian, prairie poet, Carl Sandburg, "he is full of beans and prunes." The Jack Kilby memorial statue will make our courthouse square one of the great name-places in the state of Kansas. Homer Kruckenberg, Great Bend
Dear Editor, To Mr. Bones: I was very disappointed with your Oct. 4 letter to the Tribune. Your cost report for the Kilby Memorial (and its three-figure bronze sculpture that has yet to be placed in the plaza) is a gross exaggeration. You also fail to mention that the total cost for the Memorial is paid by private donations, and not one tax dollar has been, or will be, spent. Several weeks ago I was ...
