There's an old saying that goes something like this: Sometimes you have to look back on where you've been to know where you're going. While I'm not a fanatic about history, I believe it certainly has its place in our society today.

Preceptor Pi hosted by Sister Chapter Xi Delta Upsilon
Preceptor Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Feb. 22 at First Congregational United Church of Christ for a "Winter Wonderland Party" hosted by Sister Chapter Xi Delta Upsilon. The Sister Chapter served chili with various toppings and cherry crunch with ice cream for dessert. Xi Delta Upsilon also presented each Preceptor Pi member with a stuffed snowman holding a fleece blanket.

ELLINWOOD - The criterion for the Alan Fullbright Scholarship are a reflection of what was significant in Alan Fullbright's life. The 2013 scholarship recipients are Stephanie Troyer who will be majoring in Music Education and attending Barton Community College. She has held several offices in KAY, FBLA, International Club and was the Student Council secretary and vice president of her class.
Dan Allen Noblitt 1934 - 2013
Dan Allen Noblitt, 78, died May 4 at his home in Great Bend. Born Oct. 16, 1934 in Great Bend, he was the son of George O. and Edith (Marsh) Noblitt. On April 18, 1958 he married Thelma Beebe in Norwalk, Calif. A long time resident of Great Bend, he was most recently employed as a regional manager for Super 8 Motels.
Helen R. Berscheidt 1918 - 2013
BELPRE - Helen R. Berscheidt, 94, died April 19, at the Halstead Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born Nov. 22, 1918, she was the daughter of Matt and Martha Heinke Maes. On Feb. 4, 1941 she married John N. Berscheidt in Claflin. He passed away in 1974. A lifetime area resident she was a farmwife and an occupational therapist for the Larned State Hospital for 25 years.

The Barton County Jail log for April 30 contained an error. Derrell J. Cox was charged with criminal threat, and not criminal theft as originally reported.
