George Franklin Trimmer III, 63, of Great Bend died Feb. 19 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born Jan. 22, 1948, in Council Bluffs, Ia. he was the son of George and Edna Law Trimmer. He served in the Navy from November 1965 to February 1968 with honorable discharge. He was stationed on the recovery ship, the Gemini Ten, and picked up the space capsule in July of 1966. Doretta W. Richardson 1921-2011

ELLINWOOD – Doretta W. Richardson, 89, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend. Born Oct. 10, 1921, at Gorham, she was the daughter of John and Clara Warehime Small. She married Melvin Richardson III June 24, 1938, at Russell. He died April 4, 1999.

Podolak suffers minor injuries after being hit by car

BCC announces schedule change for Leadership Excellence series

Barton Community College's Leadership Excellence Series schedule has been changed. The morning program offering all four sessions has been changed to Tuesday, March 8, meeting from 8 a.m. to noon at the Front Door, 1615 10th Street, Great Bend. The fee for the March 8 morning sessions is $65. The series of four separate lunch sessions has been canceled.

BCC Theatre has auditions for 'Baby with the Bathwater'

Barton Community College's BCC Theatre has announced auditions for its spring production, "Baby with the Bathwater," by Christopher Durang. Auditions are set for 6 p.m. Monday in the college's Fine Arts Auditorium. The auditions are open to all students, faculty and community members. Free bridge lessons offered

HOISINGTON - Card players learn the basics of bridge, or sharpen bridge skills with free "Modern Style Basic Bridge" lessons.
