A tentative agreement has been reached with Victory Park Capital for the non-consumer business segment of the Fuller Brush Company and a group of local area investors led by Rick Ball and Norbert Schneider with Innovative Livestock Service Inc.
At 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, the GBHS Orchestra will perform its fall concert in the high school auditorium. Featured selections are themes from the master choral work "Gloria" by Antonio Vivaldi and the "Peer Gynt Suite No. 1" by Edvard Grieg. The program will also include a lively "Irish Reel," the bombastic "Toccatina" of William Hofeldt, and a spooktacular piece inspired by classic zombie movies that will be frightening as well as entertaining.

Singing legend Frankie Valens and his wife Phyllis will appear at First Southern Baptist Church, 3301 19th St., Great Bend, at 10:45 a.m. on Nov. 4. There will be no charge for the program, but a freewill offering will be taken.

Five students from District V of the Kansas Music Teachers Association have qualified for the State Honors Auditions, to be held Nov. 10 at Washburn University in Topeka. Rebecca Dudrey, president of KMTA District V, said auditions were held at Barton Community College on Oct. 13. Each student performed either two or three pieces from different periods or different composers.

Jay Louis Kimball, 73, died Oct. 17 at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita. Born Jan. 20, 1939, in Larned, he was the son of Jay Grant and Sarah Louise (Postlethwaite) Kimball. In 1957 he graduated from Great Bend High School. On Aug. 20, 1959, he married Linda Laffer in Winfield. A resident of Great Bend since 2005, coming from Carson City, Nev., he worked for Lockheed Martin and Hytek Microsystems as a Microelectronics Engineer.

Helen Marie Steincamp, 84, died Jan. 10, 2015, at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita. Born Oct. 12, 1930, at Redwing, she was the daughter of Joseph R. and Anna Marie (Proksch) Dietz. She was a 1948 graduate of Hoisington High School.
