​Library to hold Amnesty Day

Sick homes topic of presentation

Ecologist Katherine Fuller and consumer educator Connie McDanel, both nationally known speakers and authors, will present a program entitled "Healing Homes: Our Social Responsibility" from 6:30-8 p.m. Sunday at the Great Bend Front Door, 1615 10th St. They will ask the questions "are our homes making us sick due to exposure to hidden toxins and what can we do about it." There is no charge for the presentation.

CKCA staff and administration attend training

Central Kansas Christian Academy staff and administration just completed two days training at the Annual ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) educator's conference in Kansas City. Joseph F. Bunk 1947 - 2015

WICHITA - Joseph F. Bunk, 67, passed away Feb. 28. He was born July 14, 1947, in Great Bend, to Maurice and Mary (Kaechele) Bunk of Hoisington. In 1965, Joe graduated from Hoisington High School. After serving his country in the United States Army during the Viet Nam War, he attended Kansas State University and graduated with a Master's Degree in Business Administration and Accounting.

Victor L. Shumate 1951 - 2015

AUGUSTA - Victor L. Shumate, 64, died on March 12, at Kansas Medical Center in Andover. Born Jan. 4, 1951, in El Dorado, he was the son of Paul Bennett and Isa Lou (Gale) Shumate. He was a graduate of El Dorado High School and Butler County Community College. He was a retired truck driver and care giver. Mr. Shumate served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era.
