ELLINWOOD - Arlene Lois Barber, 81, died Sept. 12 at SeniorCare Home in Overland Park. Born July 8, 1930, at Ellinwood, she was the daughter of William and Bertha Elizabeth Bayer Peters. On June 1, 1952, she married Roy Jesse Barber in Ellinwood. He died on Oct. 3, 2006. A longtime Ellinwood resident, moving to Kansas City in 2007, she was a business graduate of Fort Hays State University where she was an active alumnus for many years. She also held degrees in psychology, elementary education, sociology and social work with an emphasis in drug and alcohol counseling.

TOPEKA - Sheila Rae Hachmeister, 58, died Sept. 10. She was born on April 17, 1953, to W.H. and Gladys Awtrey in Hereford, Texas. She graduated from Ulysses High School in 1971 and later earned her bachelor's degree from Fort Hays State University. She married Bill Hachmeister in 1974. They later divorced. He survives. The family lived in Hill City and Great Bend before moving to Topeka in 1999. Sheila was employed by St. Francis Health Center in Medical Records for many years. She transferred to the Cancer Registry Department, serving as a Registered Health Information Technician.

ELLINWOOD - Lincoln Paul Tschopp, 78, died Aug. 17, at his home in Ellinwood. Born on Feb. 12, 1936, in Winfield, he was the son of Frederick and Cleoa (Pishney) Tschopp of Udall. He graduated as the first four sport letterman from Udall High School and holds degrees from both BCCC and Friends University in Wichita. After the 1955 Udall tornado destroyed his hometown, Paul enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Special Weapons Command. On April 4, 1975, he married Lillian Milberger in Wichita.
