Area Agency On Aging recognizes Focal Point Centers

Twenty-four senior centers from across southwest Kansas, including some from the Golden Belt, have been recognized and designated a 2014 Focal Point by the SouthWest Kansas Area Agency On Aging, according to SWKAAA Executive Director Dave Geist. These centers were recognized for the programs and services that were provided Oct.r 1, 2014, through Sept. 30, 2015.

Willard Herzberg 1938 - 2015

CHASE - Willard Herzberg, 77, died Dec. 25, 2015, in Hutchinson. Born June 12, 1938, in Coffeyville, he was the son of Alvin and Rachel (Nufer) Herzberg. On Jan. 6, 1989, he married Irene Ingle. Formerly of Great Bend he was a resident of Chase for the last 27 years. He owned and operated H-H Stables in Great Bend for many years. He was also a truck driver for Branson Truck Lines and had retired in 2008.

Uyvon ‘Vonnie’ Emma Jackson 1923 - 2015

GREAT BEND - Uyvon "Vonnie" Emma Jackson, 92, went to heaven Dec. 29, 2015, passing away at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood, surrounded by her loving family and Woodhaven care providers. Born March 27, 1923, in Hastings, Neb., she was the daughter of Fred and Hazel (Peak) Fosbinder. On Aug. 12, 1942, she married Oris Arthur Jackson in North Platte, Neb. He died July 7, 1985. A Great Bend resident since 1960, coming from Nebraska, she retired from the plastics department at Fuller Brush Company in 1985, after many years of service. Kidnapping suspect arrested, charged

On Tuesday at about 6:30 P.M. Sheriff's Officers responded to the 100 block of Kiowa Road, southeast of Great Bend. Deputies had been dispatched to an alleged domestic battery situation in which a female victim was taken against her will.
