Patricia Ann Schmidt, 87, died April 9 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born Oct. 11, 1923, at Syracuse, Kan., she was the daughter of George Francis "Frank" and Alma Madge (Brown) Shirley. SOUTH HUTCHINSON - Mabel J. Flickinger, 96, of South Hutchinson, died April 9 at Mennonite Manor. She was born June 14, 1914, the daughter of Adam and Margaret Radenberg Disque. She was a homemaker and lifetime caregiver, raising all of her 12 brothers and sisters. She was a life member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Holyrood, and a member of the El Dorado Camping Club.

James E. "Pappy" Bell 1928 - 2011

James E. "Pappy" Bell, 82, died April 10 at his home in Great Bend. He was born May 18, 1928, at Peabody, the son of Jesse M. and Anna (Swift) Bell. He married Grace Ann Smith on June 15, 1952, at Great Bend. He worked for Petro-log and Tomlinson Oil Company until his retirement in 1989. He had been a Great Bend resident for 60 years, coming from eastern Kansas.
