ARKANSAS CITY - Florence C. (Maloney) Walter-McDermott, 74, of Arkansas City, formerly of Great Bend, died Monday at Sterling House of Arkansas City. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home of Arkansas City.

Kathleen M. Honomichl 1921 - 2011

MCPHERSON - Kathleen M. Honomichl, 89, died April 24 at Memorial Hospital in McPherson. Born on Nov. 16, 1921, in Langley, she was the daughter of Edward W. and Beatrice J. (Allen) Buffington. She graduated from Marquette High School. On Feb. 4, 1957, she married Miles Lou Honomichl. He preceded her in death on Dec. 21, 2001. She was a retired office manager for Cablevision in McPherson.

WICHITA - Shirley A. Waldroupe, 66, died April 24 at the Harry Hines Memorial Hospice Center-Via Christi in Wichita. Born April 24, 1945 in rural Rush County, she was the daughter of Leon Henry and Florence (Pfeifer) Matal. She graduated from Bison High School. A resident of Wichita for seven years, moving from Great Bend, she was a motor route carrier for the Great Bend Tribune and owner of T&J Bait and Tackle in Great Bend with her husband.

Virtual school info session set for Wednesday

An information session for parents interested in a tuition-free virtual public school through Kansas Connections Academy will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday at Perkins Family Restaurant, 2920 10th St. in Great Bend. Sponsors said Kansas Connections Academy is a state-of-the-art alternative to the traditional brick-and-mortar classroom. It serves students statewide in grade K-12.
