The following meals will be served April 4 through April 8. The secondary schools also have available daily: Main dish second choices, chef's salad, combo lunches and choice of vegetables and dessert. The breakfast menu is offered only to students in USD 428. Menus are subject to change without notice. Milk served with all meals. All meals as offered meet USDA nutritional guidelines.
Esther Cromwell 85th
Esther Cromwell will celebrate her 85th birthday with a reception from 2:30 to 4 p.m. today at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Hoisington. Hosts for the evening will be her daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Darrell Zigler, Connie and John Gilzinger and Barbara and David Janway.
Louise Hejny 88th
Louise Hejny of Gardner, will celebrate her 88th birthday with a card shower. Louise was born on April 5, 1923 in Olmitz. She has lived most of her life on a farm near Olmitz. She has two children, Norma and Richard Kraisinger of Otis and Donna and Philip Feist of Gardner; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Weems
Lauren Rebecca Marshall and Christopher Jordan Weems were united in marriage on Nov. 13 at the historic estate of John and Mable Ringling in Sarasota, Fla. in a ceremony officiated by the Reverend William Johnson. Lauren is the daughter of Dr. Roger and Laina Marshall, of Great Bend. Christopher is the son of Mr. Samuel and Deborah Weems, of Jackson, Miss.

Chris and Patti Lanzer of Overland Park, announce the engagement of their daughter, Emily Lanzer, to Todd Sherman, son of Dennis and Jann Sherman of Great Bend.
Progress Club
The Progress Club met on March 7. Hostess was Karen Becker. Seventeen members were present. Pat Halbower gave the program on Australia. In 1994, the Halbowers traveled to Australia, Tasmania, and New Zealand. Australia is the only continent that is also a country. It was in the 1700's that people first knew about this country. The English wanted to get rid of their criminals so they first sent them to America and then to Australia. ...

Norman and Hilda Chakir will celebrate their 30th anniversary and Hilda's 95th birthday from 2 to 4 p.m. on April 10 at the Senior Center, 2005 Kansas, in Great Bend. Hosts for the celebration will be Hilda's children, Judy Burnett, Sandy and Taylor Smith, both of Great Bend and Ron and Pat Griffith of Smith Center.

Harue Matsumoto and Kevin W. Naylor were united in marriage on May 30, 2010 at the Ko Olina Chapel Place of Joy in Kapolei, Hawaii on the Island of Oahu. The bride is the daughter of Atsuko Matsumoto of Yokohama, Japan. The groom is the son of Terry and Karen Naylor of Great Bend.
Theresa Schmeidler 80th
Theresa Schmeidler will celebrate her 80th birthday with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. on April 10 at the Best Western Angus Inn, poolside in Great Bend. Friends and family are invited to attend. Velorris Boese will celebrate her 80th birthday on April 17 with a buffet luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Water's Edge in Hesston, hosted by her children, Stanley and Zeta Boese, Roberta and Jay Osborn, and Kevin and Becky Boese.
