Solid pitching leads Cougars to series split with Seward County

Playing six games in three days, the Barton Community College baseball team needed and received solid pitching to earn a series split with Seward County Community College this past weekend at Lawson-Biggs Field.

Betty Jo (Jody) Rader 1931 - 2013

LARNED - Betty Jo (Jody) Rader, 82, died March 10, at Country Place Senior Living in Larned. Born Jan. 29, 1931 in Greensburg, she was the daughter of Merle and Muriel Ratliff Kelly. In 1949 she graduated from Greensburg High school. On Aug. 7, 1949, she married Dorl Rader in Greensburg. He survives. She was a doctor's nurse for Doctors Cram, Blount, Brenner, Ewing and Smith in Greensburg.

​Teens wanted for Spring Break Zoo Crew

Great Bend's Brit Spaugh Zoo offers teens a chance to learn about animal care and experience zoo careers as part of this year's Spring Break Zoo Crew. This program runs from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, March 21-22. According to Danielle Ricklefs at the zoo, teens will work alongside zoo staff and will assist with the educational program and development.
