Dogs picked up by humane society

The Golden Belt Humane Society picked up three dogs Saturday afternoon at 329 Maple St., after someone reported they were out in the heat with no water or shelter. A 21-year-old woman was served a notice to appear in municipal court for alleged cruelty to animals.

Kansas gas prices starting to climb

Average retail gasoline prices in Kansas have risen 2.0 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.60 per gallon on Monday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 1,329 gas outlets in Kansas. This compares with the national average that has fallen 2.3 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.59, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

Roxanna Lee (Finch) Schneider 1953 - 2013

Roxanna Lee (Finch) Schneider died Aug. 30 at her home in Great Bend. She was born Oct. 29, 1953, at Hays, to Robert M. and Betty Jean (Rubendall) Finch. Roxie was a graduate of Hays High School and also had a Fine Arts degree and at one time was an adjunct professor of design at Fort Hays State University. She was an associate, American Society of Interior Designers.
