HOISINGTON - Mary Ann Schreiber, 81, died April 7, 2012 at Sterling House in Great Bend. Born Sept. 12, 1930 in Brownell, she was the daughter of William Halbleib and Elvah Longstreth and Clyde Ricks. On Feb. 28, 1949 she married Richard J. Schreiber in Ransom. He died on July 4, 1994. She grew up in Brownell moving to Beaver in 1951 and later to Hoisington in 1998.
HUTCHINSON - Francis E. 'Gene' Stambaugh, 83, died April 3, 2012 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.

Curtis was a graduate of Coldwater High School and received his bachelor's degree and master's degree in Science at Kansas State University, with four years ROTC and entered the Air Force as 2nd Lieutenant in July 7, 1955, where he became a jet pilot for three years. I recently published two stories about outspoken, committed socialists: one, an active member of the Industrial Workers of the World running for U.S. Senate and the other a self-described Marxist college professor leading a movement urging the federal government to regulate the Internet.
