Renowned soloist Trent Green to perform at Kilby sculpture ceremony

Ellinwood native Trent Green's robust tenor voice has taken him all the way to Spoleto, Italy, where he performed with opera greats Luciano Pavarotti, Renée Fleming, Plácido Domingo, and composer Gian Carlo Menotti. Saturday evening, his voice will bring him home to sing during the Jack Kilby Sculpture Lighting Ceremony, scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. in downtown Great Bend.

Hay Fire

Cattle in pens at Mid-America Feeders mill around as smoke rises from approximately 120 round hay bales that caught fire Tuesday afternoon. The fire was reported about 1:18 p.m. and after battling the blaze for awhile, MAF and Great Bend Fire Department officials decided it was best to just let the fire burn itself out. Great Bend Fire Chief Mike Napolitano said this was the third time this month that hay ignited at the feedlot. In each case the cause was spontaneous combustion. The 2015 Great Bend Farm and Ranch Expo will be held Wednesday through Friday, April 8, 9, and 10, 2015 in Great Bend. The show is located at the Expo Complex west of town.
