"The trend is your friend" is an old saying that applies to marriage as well as other pursuits in life. If your relationship is not moving in a decidedly positive direction, if you are not feeling more intimacy, more love, and more warmth for your spouse it is probably a good time to make a few little changes. After all, you have free will. So you might as well use your free will to make changes that will create happiness.
The new school year is about to begin, and this presents a great chance for parents to evaluate the previous year and make changes to their general house rules. How did the kids do on homework last year? Cleaning out their book bags? Household chores? Did they need a nap or a snack when they walked in the door? Did they have too many activities or too much time on their hands?

A police pursuit that began shortly before 2:30 Sunday a.m. near 24th and Odell St. in Great Bend ended a short time later near 29th and Quivira Ave. Suspect Joshua Smith from Hays allegedly fled on foot but was later found and arrested, according to Lt. Williams Browne at the Great Bend Police Department.
At 11 p.m. Sunday, the Great Bend Police Department received multiple reports from people who heard shots fired in the area of Sixth and Odell St. Two men and a woman were contacted in the front yard of 521 Odell St., and a case was taken. No one was arrested.

A couple from Hampton, Va., was taken to Via Christi Medical Center in Wichita on Friday, after their motorcycle collided with a semi-trailer in Russell County.
The annual family reunion of the descendants of William and Rosa Baldwin, who settled in Pawnee County in the late 1800's, was held on July 20 at the Garfield Community Building.
