Today more than 380 Farm Bureau members of Kansas wrapped up business for their farm organization after debating and adopting policy statements for 2014. These policies will now become the organization's roadmap for the 2014 legislative session.
Barton County 4-H members were honored for their accomplishments at the 79th annual 4-H Achievement Celebration. The theme was "Make a Splash with 4-H". Sarah Niederee, 4-H Council President and Bonny Boultinghouse, 4-H Council Vice-President served as the emcees. Caleb Maneth, Council Treasurer led the members in the Flag Salute and 4-H Pledge. Morgan Kaiser, Council Secretary introduced the special guests.

Chickasaw/Pawnee sixth grade student Carrie Johnson of Teague, Texas, was selected as a candidate in the Distinguished Youth of Texas Scholarship and Recognition program that was held on Nov. 29 - Dec. 1 at the Marriott Rivercenter Hotel in San Antonio, Texas. During the weekend competition, two students were chosen to receive a $1,000 cash scholarship and the right to serve as a State Program Titleholder for one year. In all, $5,000 in awards and prizes were presented to various participants.

The secondary schools also have available daily: Main dish second choices, chef's salad, combo lunches and choice of vegetables and dessert. The breakfast menu is offered only to students in USD 428. Menus are subject to change without notice. Milk served with all meals. All meals as offered meet USDA nutritional guidelines.

Work began on Nov. 28, to build a sanitary four unit toilet in the Children's Peace Park being developed by the Rotary Club of Bushenyi, Uganda, with the digging of the trenches for the water and sewer lines.
