Great Bend Fire Department units were dispatched to the Red Barn plant Tuesday evening after ammonia vented from a condenser unit on the air conditioning cooling tower. Battalion Chief Rick Robison said there were no injuries and the vapors soon dissipated. "Kansans Tell Their Stories," a traveling exhibition featuring Kansas community history, will be on display at the Flying Pig Studio & Gallery, 123 S. Main Street in Lucas, July 25 - September 2. The exhibition is part of a statewide tour presented by the Kansas Humanities Council. The Lucas Area Chamber of Commerce is the local host of the exhibition. Great Bend Children's Learning Center held a food drive for the local food bank the past couple weeks. The kids were very excited to help out families that may be in need this holiday season. The kids brought in a total of 366 items to donate.
Here we go again. Pointing to a conservative study, Gov. Rick Perry proclaimed, "The discussion's over. The debate's over. The proof is in. Texas wins." And who did we beat? California, of course.
