The Great Bend Public Library is forming a Teen Advisory Group to help with various areas of the Young Adult Department. In addition to making suggestions for new books to purchase for the collection, they will also help plan future teen programs, such as Movie Nights and Game Days. Teens in grades 7-12 are welcome to join.

ELLINWOOD - Gary D. Dannebohm, 67, died Sept. 1 at the Kansas Soldier's Home in Fort Dodge. Born May 11, 1945, in Great Bend, he was the son of Stanley Dannebohm and Lillian Irene Parker Dannebohm. A longtime resident of Ellinwood, moving to the Kansas Soldier's Home in Fort Dodge, he was a truck driver.
LIBERAL - Sharon Rose Irick, 73, passed away at University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, Colo., surrounded by her family on Aug. 31.
LARNED - Alice Katherine Elizabeth Ebert, 94, passed away Aug. 31 at the Dallas Retirement Village, Dallas, Ore.
BARTON COUNTY - Ellinwood Community Blood Drive will be held from 2-7 p.m. on Sept. 6 at St. Joseph Parish Center, 110 W. 2nd.
Gavoyn Mathew Bunch, 16 months, died Sept. 1, at Great Bend Regional Hospital. He was born April 21, 2010 at Wichita the son of Brian Cody and Casey Reenea (Hupfer) Bunch. He was a lifetime Great Bend, Kansas resident.
Patricia Ledesma is now the Reserve World NSBA Champion in the category of trail pattern for Riders with Disabilities. The Rosewood Services Inc. client earned her new title at the National Snaffle Bit Association World Horse Show, held in Tulsa Aug. 17-21 at the Built Ford Tough Expo Complex in Tulsa.
- Three hundred and fifty Barton County second graders flocked to the Kansas Wetlands Education Center on Thursday for the 2nd annual Wetlands Education Day to learn about the wild, wonderful wetlands in Barton County. It was hosted by the Friends of Cheyenne Bottoms.

Like clouds of bathroom hair spray during Oscar nominee luncheons. Like jaded eyes at a press screening of "Transformers 4."
The Great Bend High School Speech team placed in 11 events at the Nickerson Speech Tournament. Those placing were Makinna Dykes, Kris Gieck and Ashtin Heath. Ashtin placed in both of her events. Those placing in all of their events and qualifying for the State Speech Championship Tournament in May are Malia Clark, Jesus Sandoval and Carter Sheffield. Carter Sheffield also won the Triathlon Award by placing the highest in all three of his events. He placed 1st in Extemporaneous Speaking, 1st in Serious Solo Acting and 3rd in Impromptu Speaking. The team placed 3rd overall.
