The Claflin ICC parish CYO is hosting a 3-on-3 basketball tournament beginning at 10 a.m on Feb. 25 at Central Plains High School in Claflin. The entry fee is $40 per team. There will be an 18 and over and a 17 and younger division. Both divisions will consist of a separate male and female bracket. Concessions will be available. Admission to watch is $1. Twenty-six Central Plains Middle School 6-8 grade students earned the title of "Survivor" by surviving the past 50 days of school. To qualify for the 50-Day Survivor Safari reward, students had to have perfect attendance from Nov. 14-Feb. 7 for a total of 50 school days. Students who met this criteria were able to enjoy an afternoon of games and snacks on Feb. 8th. ELLINWOOD - Mike Strobl, 78, died Aug. 8, 2014 at his home in Ellinwood. Born on March 18, 1936, in Great Bend, he was raised by Nick and Alice Klepper of Ellinwood. On Sept. 21, 1963, he married Jeanie Brown in Phoenix, Ariz. A lifetime Ellinwood area resident, he was co-owner of Strobl-Yarmer Construction.
