​Man reportedly dragged ex-wife with vehicle

A Great Bend man was booked into the Barton County Jail on Sunday on an aggravated battery charge. Jesus G. Zendejas-Luna was reportedly involved in a domestic altercation with his ex-wife around 6 p.m. in the 2800 block of 20th St., and he allegedly took off in his pickup, dragging the victim. Bond was set at $75,000.

Kans for Kids holds hamburger feed

HOISINGTON -Future children in Barton County who are diagnosed with cancer will benefit from the annual Hamburger Hotdog Feed held Sept. 9 at the Hoisington Knights of Columbus. Hosted by Friends of Kans for Kids, a very large crowd enjoyed a meal of hamburgers, hotdogs, baked beans, chips, roasted corn, cookies and drinks. 100% of the proceeds went directly to Kans for Kids.

The New Republican Tar Pits

It's kind of sad being forced to watch the death struggle of these modern-day dinosaurs. Responsible parents should keep their kids from peering over the Plexiglas railing into the tar pits below to see the huge lumbering antediluvian beasts frenziedly dig themselves deeper into the sticky morass that is gay marriage. The Great Bend Panther bowling squads made an early departure from town on Saturday morning as they traveled to The Alley in Wichita for the 8 team Andover Tournament. In girls action it was sophomore Allie Brodrick who led the way with her team high 560 series. Following close behind was sophomore Kylynn Keeler with a 533 series, senior Abby Rose with a 515 series and senior Addie Soukup with a 514 series.
