Elsie Mae Pickerill, 69, passed away at the Minneola Long Term Care Center in Minneola on Monday afternoon, Feb. 13. Elsie was born on Sept. 12, 1942, in Ellsworth to John and Mildred (Mills) Ploutz. She graduated from Ellsworth High School. On Sept. 5, 1964, she was united in marriage to Gary Pickerill in Great Bend, where the couple made their home. One of Elsie's favorite activities was watching KU basketball.
ODIN - Irene M. Beran, 88, died Feb. 13 at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend. Born April 11, 1923, in Victoria, she was the daughter of Wendelin and Pauline (Dreiling) Dinkel. On June 16, 1948, she married August V. Beran in Victoria. He died May 4, 1966. A resident of Odin since 1948, coming from Victoria, and moving to Great Bend in 2005, she was a homemaker and served in domestic services.
