Original gallery manager retires from Rosewood Services

Tuesday (Feb. 19) was a difficult day at the office for everyone involved at Rosewood Furniture Gallery, located in downtown Great Bend. The Gallery's one and only manager Sandy Smith was saying goodbye on her final day there before retiring. Tears fell like rain as the manager and her client-employees grasped the magnitude of the moment. It was the end of a mentor-employee relationship that began more than 11 years earlier for some at the Gallery.

Doris L. Kisner 1918 - 2013

Doris L. Kisner, 95, died Feb. 23 at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend. Born Jan. 30, 1918 in Hardy, Ark., she was the daughter of Marion and Charity (Sears) Richardson. In 1935 she married Forrest Ferguson in Hardy, Ark. She later married Earl Hilliard and Al Kisner. A resident of Great Bend since 1957, coming from Hoisington, she was a homemaker and a clerk at various department stores. She was a seamstress making many dolls and quilts.
