Fun Night!

Students from Holy Family School are shown with some of the prizes and raffle items to be given away at Fun Night. The school fundraiser runs from 5-9 Friday at the Prince of Peace Parish Center and Holy Family School commons area. There will be raffles, carnival games, silent auction and a meal.

Calmus coming to Hesston

HESSTON – The refined vocal excellence of Calmus, a German a cappella ensemble, will round out the 2012-13 Hesston-Bethel Performing Arts season with a concert entitled "Bright Side of Life" at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 14, at Hesston Mennonite Church on the Hesston College campus. Following the concert, HBPA will host a dessert reception in the Hesston Mennonite Church Community Center. Season ticket holders have free admission to the dessert reception and non-season ticket holders can purchase their admission for $4 at the door.

Jesus (Shelby Waterhouse) meets his mother Mary (Traci Ross), in a scene from the fourth Station of the Cross. Holy Trinity Church's youth group in Timken reenacted the Living Stations of the Cross on Good Friday, March 29. Other cast members were Matthew Wagner, Raymond Bruton, Haley Vondracek, Cody Bruton, James Flax, Gabriel Oddo, Allie Seltman, Jared Vondracek, Laken Vondracek, Sabrina Pechanec and Preston Ross.

Lady Cougars lose twinbill to nationally-ranked Butler

Unfortunately for the Barton Community College softball team, NJCAA's No. 2-ranked Butler was too much for them in capturing a pair of Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Western Division victories on Thursday 14-2 and 11-1.

Golden Belt swimmers win Hays meet

HAYS- The Golden Belt swim team recorded a first place finish at last weekend's meet in Hays. Aubrey Snapp placed first in all her events. Cal Dunekack and sister Camryn were standouts as well. Phane Pedigo and Dawson Clark were leaders in the high school boys events. All swimmers improved their times swimming in a 50 meter pool.

Blazers place second

The Barton Blazers took second place in the Shawnee Mission/Overland Park Premiere basketball tournament. The Blazers defeated the Reno County Elite, Beastmode, Bobcats, and CNBA. They lost in the championship game to Missouri Flight. The Blazers will be playing at home this coming weekend in the Great Bend MAYB tourney. Players include, Brock Skelton, Evan Campbell, Nick Wondra, Chance Sanger, Ray Kuhlman, Connor Griffith, Sam Ryan, and JJ Heredia.
