The death of a 38-year-old woman whose body was found late Wednesday afternoon in a home at 2204 Adams St. has been ruled a suicide, Great Bend Police Chief Dean Akings said. The woman's body was transported Wednesday evening to Brock Funeral Home in Hays for an autopsy because authorities were originally concerned that the death was suspicious. The results of the autopsy were made known Thursday morning.

An Ellsworth woman died when the vehicle she was driving collided with another vehicle on K-156, 14 miles northeast of Great Bend at 4:19 p.m. on Tuesday. A 2000 Mazda protege driven by Teresa Mehl, age 45, was travelling east on K-156 and crossed into the westbound lane, colliding with a 2012 GMC Sierra 2500 driven by Andrew Kirkpatrick, 31, from Ellinwood.

Craig Ranch North Community Pool in McKinney, Texas was not a "whites only" pool, but it might as well have been. Before Eric Casebolt shoved a black girl's face into the ground and pulled a gun on her two unarmed friends, white neighborhood residents at the pool assumed that all those black teenagers were in the wrong place. They didn't see the invited guests of a black neighbor getting a little rowdy at an end-of-school pool party. They saw black people who didn't belong in the mostly white neighborhood.
