DeleteLARNED - Agnes Gertrude Ohnmacht, 102, died March 31 at The Legacy at Parkview in Ulysses. Born May 30, 1909, in Olmitz, she was the daughter of Mary (Mayne) Corrigan and Andrew Hickey. She graduated from Hoisington High School on May 18, 1928. She received her teaching certificate from Fort Hays College and began teaching for three years in a one-room school house in the Olmitz area. On Oct. 6, 1931, she married Paul Werner Ohnmacht in Olmitz. They lived and farmed north of Olmitz until they moved to Larned in 1947. He died on March 19, 1981. She and Paul ...
OLMITZ - Dorothy F. Schneider, 89, died March 31 at the Hays Medical Center. Born May 21, 1922, in Gove County, she was the daughter of Alexander and Walburga (Ziegler) Schwarzenberger. She graduated from Quinter High School in 1940. On May 11, 1954, she married Raymond A. Schneider in Collier. He preceded her in death on Oct. 17, 2007. She moved to Hoisington in 2009 from her farm south of Olmitz. She worked as a teller in various banks over the years retiring from Farmers Bank and Trust in Albert.
ELLINWOOD - The Ellinwood Area Health Foundation will be hosting its first "Giving is Receiving" event. This year's fundraising event includes a donor drive, health fair, poker run, dinner, dance and raffle to be held from 10 a.m. to midnight on April 28. Proceeds will be used to help purchase a new telemetry unit for cardiac patients and many needed items for Ellinwood District Hospital and clinic.
