Ruth E. (Beardsley) Parker 1927 - 2013

Ruth E. (Beardsley) Parker, 86, of Great Bend, and formerly of New York, N.Y., passed away on Sunday morning, Dec. 1, at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born April 26, 1927, in Auburn, N.Y., she was the daughter of Theodore R. and Ruth E. (Burden) Beardsley. On Aug. 12, 1953, she was united in marriage to Donald H. Parker at Skaneateles, N.Y. The couple made their home in Syracuse, N.Y. Prior to her retirement she became interested in genealogy and worked on her ancestry for over 35 years. Ice causes injury rollover

David Nichols, 30, of Hoisington was seriously injured Wednesday in a rollover accident on West K-4 near NW 100 Ave. According to the Barton County Sheriff's Office, Nichols was driving a Ford F-250 truck that slid on a patch of ice around 6:26 a.m. The truck slid into the ditch and rolled, ejecting the driver.

Bethlehem comes to Jetmore

Dance by Design presents Winter Wonderland, a winter dance recital with a whimsical twist. This 8th Annual Winter Show has tap, jazz, and lyrical dance routines performed by local youth from Great Bend, Hoisington and Larned. Owner/Instructor Lee Ann Bashor says, "This adventure will take you down the rabbit hole and off to a curious land. I'm so proud of all my dancers. They have worked hard and we want to share our joy of dance."
