Carol Joan Lundquist 1927 - 2013

Carol Joan Lundquist passed away Oct. 5, at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend, in much of the same manner in which she was born. She died with strength, grace, and dignity. Carol was born March 27, 1927 at her aunt's home in Milwaukee, Wisc., to Carl John and Rose Caroline (Blum) Pohlman, with a remote chance of survival. Born two months prematurely, Carol was placed in an improvised shoe box incubator by her aunt and father, after the doctor felt there was no hope of survival. ELLINWOOD - Robert M. Miller, 90, died Sept. 30, at Country Place Senior Living in Ellinwood. Born June 10, 1923 in Rockport, Mo., he was the son of Walter and Nellie Miller. On Nov. 23, 1956, he married Evelyn L. Martin in Rockport, Mo. He was a longtime resident of Ellinwood.

Vehicle hits deer; driver hit after leaving vehicle

A Lyons man died Friday in a Rice County accident. Kansas Highway Patrol reports Boe E. Keesling, 32, left a disabled sport utility vehicle after hitting a deer, and was hit by another vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
