DODGE CITY - Barton Community College sophomore forward Bianca Barron showed why she led the Lady Cougars soccer team in goals last season, scoring five in a 7-0 dismantling of Dodge City on Wednesday afternoon.
The Great Bend Recreation Commission offers two new walking programs to promote community-wide health and fitness while providing incentives to stay active. The first program, "Stroller Walks," encourages moms and dads to get active while pushing a child in a stroller. The second program, "Great Bend Walks," is open to all ages and encourages participants to be active for at least 30 minutes per day.
TOPEKA - A small hospital in the central Kansas community of Ellinwood is the latest beneficiary of a federal loan program aimed at helping rural health care facilities modernize and take care of longstanding infrastructure needs.
Landmark National Bank is partnering with the Golden Belt Humane Society in order to raise funds and awareness with a "Dog for a Dog" event. Landmark associates will be grilling and serving hot dogs with a drink for a donation to Golden Belt Humane Society. The event is from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Oct. 2 at Landmark's 1623 Main Street location. Donations of pet supplies, dog food and any other items the Humane Society can use is encouraged. Donations can also be dropped off at Landmark's other Great Bend location 5200 Broadway.
