Free flu-shot clinic moves to new location

The services will be the same but the location will be different at this year's drive-through flu-shot clinic sponsored by St. Rose Ambulatory & Surgery Center. The clinic is going back to its roots after a few years at the Great Bend Library parking lot.

Domincan Sisters of Peace is showing movies with a message in the auditorium at the Great Bend Motherhouse. Movies begin at 6:15 p.m. and include refreshments and discussion. A freewill donation is requested.

LeeRoy A. Legleiter 1934 - 2012

LeeRoy A. Legleiter, 78, died Oct. 12 at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita. He was born July 17, 1934, at Liebenthal, the son of Anton and Genevieve (Schaffer) Legleiter. He married Leota Meier on June 13, 1959, at Hays. A Great Bend resident since 1969, coming from Hays, he was production superintendent for Coronado Oil, retiring in 1999.

Garden Club learns history and future of Great Bend’s Argonne Forest

At their January meeting, 15 members of Great Bend Garden Club received a wealth of information about the work of a small group of people working hard for the betterment of Great Bend. Garden Club member Toni Rice is also a member of the Great Bend Tree Board and during her recent program Toni enthusiastically told the history of the Tree Board and of Great Bend's status as a Tree City USA.

​Cheyenne Bottoms documentary to be shown at Wetlands Center
