Ruby Lucille Blaz 1942 - 2012

HOISINGTON - Ruby Lucille Blaz, 70, died Dec. 8 at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington. Born Oct. 27, 1942 in Guymon, Okla., she was the daughter of Raymond and Helen (Smith) Steinkuehler. Ruby moved to Hoisington in 1986 coming from Guymon, Okla. She was brought up in the Nazarene Church and worked as a CNA for Texas County Memorial Hospital for many years. She enjoyed reading, traveling and music. On July 2, 1984 she married Rush Blaz in Great Bend.

Sister Sibyllina Mueller 1931 - 2012

Sister Sibyllina Mueller, 81, died early Sunday morning, Dec. 9 in the Dominican Sisters' Convent Infirmary in Great Bend. Born Jan. 10, 1931, in Wichita, as Theresa Susanne Mueller, Sister Sibyllina was the daughter of the late John and Sibylla (Ternes) Mueller. She entered the Dominican Sisters' Community on Aug. 26, 1945, and pronounced her first vows June 10, 1948. She celebrated 60 years of religious profession in 2008.

Olinda Elizabeth “Linda” Ott 1921 - 2012

Olinda Elizabeth "Linda" Ott, 91, died Dec. 8 at Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit. Born Feb. 18, 1921 in Russell County, she was the daughter of Jacob and Mary Elizabeth (Hettinger) Tittel. On Jan. 9, 1949, she married I.L. "Bill" Ott in Milberger. He died on Jan. 10, 2007. A resident of Great Bend from 1963 to 2009, formerly of Russell, she was a homemaker.

​Program shares holiday traditions of Mexico

The Great Bend Recreation Commission will be host "Holiday Traditions from Mexico" at noon Wednesday at the Great Bend Recreation Center, 1214 Stone St. Students from the Barton County Academy will talk about some of their traditions, meals and heart-warming experiences. Extension Agent Donna Krug will also present information. There will be small food sampling at the conclusion of this program.
