TOPEKA - The Kansas State High School Activities Association reports a proposal to modify Class 4A, 3A and 2-1A for football classes failed to receive the 146 votes needed in favor to constitute a majority of the 290 impacted schools. The final tally indicated 101 schools voted in favor of the proposed changes.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Mitchell "Bones" Ray Smith, 52, of Fayetteville, Ark., passed away June 15, 2012 in Fayetteville, Ark. Born May 14, 1960 in Hutchinson, he was the son of Richard H. Smith and Carma Heckathorn Hughey. He was a graduate of Holdenville, Oklahoma high school and attended Okmulgee Technical School.

His topic was Systematic Responses to Sexual Assault. The day-long seminar was part of the Lee Turner Lectureship Series, an endowment-funded program designed to help law enforcement personnel meet continuing education requirements. Crime Stoppers is seeking information about a burglary that happened in the early hours of May 3 at Cervs, 1000 Main in Great Bend. Police Chief Dean Akings said a window was broken with a piece of concrete. Cash and cigarettes were stolen. Damage and property loss were in excess of $1,900.
