CLAY CENTER – Almost weekly news stories appear promoting gay rights. Currently 19 states have legalized same sex marriage while 31 states have traditional marriage laws on the books. Additionally, President Obama has issued various executive orders furthering the equality of gays. All this has made the gay issue a topic for public discussion. It is not just a religious, political or social issue anymore. It is regularly in the news and impacting many Americans on some level.
On Saturday Aug. 23 Heartland Center for Spirituality, 3600 Broadway Ave., Great Bend, will hold its first session in its spiritual formation classes, SpiritLife, for the fall semester. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the last class will conclude at 3 p.m.
The Barton County Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Monday at the Barton County Courthouse, 1400 Main in Great Bend, or immediately following the canvassing the Tuesday, Aug. 5, primary ballots.
