Proposal to modify 4-1A football classes fails to receive 146 majority votes needed

TOPEKA - The Kansas State High School Activities Association reports a proposal to modify Class 4A, 3A and 2-1A for football classes failed to receive the 146 votes needed in favor to constitute a majority of the 290 impacted schools. The final tally indicated 101 schools voted in favor of the proposed changes.

Lee Turner Lectureship

Special Assistant Attorney General Kevin O' Connor, who was the prosecutor during the Adam Longoria trial, speaks to a room full of area law enforcement professionals, Tuesday at Barton Community College. His topic was Systematic Responses to Sexual Assault. The day-long seminar was part of the Lee Turner Lectureship Series, an endowment-funded program designed to help law enforcement personnel meet continuing education requirements. There will be another session on Wednesday, July 25. The deadline to register is July 11.

Cash and cigarettes stolen

Crime Stoppers is seeking information about a burglary that happened in the early hours of May 3 at Cervs, 1000 Main in Great Bend. Police Chief Dean Akings said a window was broken with a piece of concrete. Cash and cigarettes were stolen. Damage and property loss were in excess of $1,900.
