Roy Dean Schauvliege 1954 - 2015

JETMORE - Roy Dean Schauvliege, 61, passed away Aug. 9, 2015, at the Rice County District Hospital in Lyons. Born June 16, 1954, in Albuquerque, N.M., he was the son of Clifford Roy and Peggy Speck Schauvliege. A longtime area resident, he was a retired feed mill supervisor for the Co-op in Jetmore. He donated to St. Jude's Children's hospital and enjoyed riding his Honda Valkyrie. He especially loved his grandchildren, family and Teri Newman.

Evelyn K. Kultgen, 94, died Aug. 5, 2015, at Brookdale Senior Living, Great Bend, her home for the past ten years. Born March 30, 1921 at Kinsley, she was the daughter of and one of six children born to Conrad and Anna (Herrmann) Brehm.

LARNED – Romona Jean Snodgrass, 85, passed away Aug. 9, 2015, at Diversicare of Larned. Born Oct. 16, 1929, in Larned, she was the daughter of Claude Wilburn and Flossie Bell Williams Lewis. On Nov. 16, 1948, she married Paul Estel Snodgrass. He passed away on Dec. 3, 1982. A lifetime area resident of Larned, she was a Dietary/Food Supervisor at the Larned State Hospital and Pawnee Heights School.

Family Crisis Center receives funding through Great Bend from Kansas Housing Resources Corporation

The City of Great Bend this week received notification that it had received funding though the Emergency Shelter Solutions grant administered by the Kansas Housing Resources Corporation for the Family Crisis Center, said center Executive Director Laura Patzner. The news came after the funds were initially denied because of issues with Barton County's 2013 audit.
