Leadership Golden Belt is now accepting grant applications to attend Kansas Leadership Center's "You. Lead. Now." and "Teaching Leadership" conferences, in Wichita. Interested parties may attend as an individual or with a group. Awarded grants will be used to cover the conference registration fee and $50 per diem lodging reimbursement with a two day maximum.

Gloria Hernandez's name is becoming synonymous with vegetarian cooking in Great Bend. After teaching classes at the Parent Resource Center and also the Great Bend Recreation Center she now is offering a one-day vegan vegetarian cooking class from 1-6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 25, at the Great Bend Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1 mile west of 10th and Patton in Great Bend.
The Central Kansas Community Choir, which is sponsored by Barton Community College will begin rehearsals next week for its 2015 concert, "God and Country."
It has been a rugged five days for the Barton Community College women's basketball team. About as tough a 5-day stretch as any team in the nation will see this season. It came to a conclusion Wednesday night with a loss Hutchinson, 73-45 at the Barton Gym.
After the tragic shooting at a provocative magazine in Paris last week, I pointed out that given the foreign policy positions of France we must consider blowback as a factor. Those who do not understand blowback made the ridiculous claim that I was excusing the attack or even blaming the victims. Not at all, as I abhor the initiation of force. The police blaming victims when they search for the motive of a criminal.
As the controversy builds over anything and everything relating to Barack Obama, many Republicans have come to believe that their party will prosper as a result.
