These are just a few of life's little questions. 4-H can help you with these questions. 4-H is a place where everyone in the family can go together on the same night to a 4-H meeting. Join 4-H and learn the basics of dog obedience in the dog project. Join 4-H and open up a new world of fashion options by designing clothes or buying them, selecting accessories and modeling.

Eisenhower School receives Youth Literacy grant

Eisenhower School recently received a $2,000 Youth Literacy grant from the Dollar General Literacy Organization to support its literacy programs. The grant, prepared by Blythe Porter, Eisenhower School Title I reading teacher, will be used to purchase iPads and an early literacy phonics program to enrich the reading curriculum for students who receive reading support in kindergarten through sixth grade. "These funds will allow us to purchase items that will specifically target the individual reading needs of Eisenhower students who require additional reading support," said Tricia Reiser, principal. The following meals will be served Oct. 7 through Oct. 11. The secondary schools also have available daily: Main dish second choices, chef's salad, combo lunches and choice of vegetables and dessert. Dog for a dog event a success

Landmark National Bank "Dog For A Dog" event was held on Oct. 2 to benefit the Great Bend Humane Society. Approximately $800 was raised. Items were collected that the Humane Society needs on a daily basis such as 30 gallon trash bags, zip lock bags, paper towels, band aids, dog, puppy and cat food. A complete list can be viewed at the display at Landmark National Bank.

Illegal Immigrant Lobby to Stage National Demand for Amnesty, Work Authorization

On October 5, as part of their ceaseless demand that Congress passes comprehensive immigration reform, illegal aliens and their advocates will hold a National Day of Dignity and Respect. Their goal is to achieve immediate legal status, with work authorization, and eventual citizenship. If successful, at least 11 million aliens would compete with Americans for the handful of available jobs.

More than 75 Farm Bureau members of Kansas have taken leadership positions within their farm organization and will serve on the organization's agricultural advisory committees. Members on the eight state ag advisory committees surface commodity-specific issues, discuss solutions and make recommendations to the Kansas Farm Bureau board of directors.

Pilot International Foundation was established in 1975 to support the community-based work of Pilot Clubs by promoting the awareness and prevention of brain-related disorders, and improving the lives of those affected by such disorders, through education, volunteerism, financial support, and research.
