A retirement reception for Twentieth Judicial District Judge Hannelore Kitts will be held from 2-4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, in Courtroom B at the Barton County Courthouse. Kitts has served as a district judge for 17 years. The district includes Barton, Ellsworth, Rice, Russell and Stafford counties.
The Barton Community College Board of Trustees will be talking about property acquisition during a special meeting on Thursday afternoon. The preliminary discussion on real estate is being held in executive session to protect the public interest in obtaining a fair price. Changing the date of the board's January business meeting is also on the agenda.
Sandy Chism, 55, died Jan. 2 at her sister's home in Great Bend. Born Dec. 7, 1957, at Great Bend, she was the daughter of Charles E. and Dorothy Elizabeth (Allen) Chism.
