Cory Little had an outstanding warrant when he was seen by a Great Bend Police officer at 3:49 p.m. Saturday in the 1400 block of Broadway Ave. The officer attempted to arrest Little, who fled on foot. Suspected narcotics were found in a bag in Little's possession.
The Ellinwood Library wants to reach its newest patrons with a new early literacy initiative called Books for Babies. The programs acquaints parents of newborns with the importance of books and reading in their child's learning, even in the earliest months of infancy.

HOISINGTON - Susan Kay Ming, 55, died Sept. 3, 2013 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, Great Bend. She was born May 17, 1958 at Hutchinson, the daughter of George S. and L. Joan (Riegel) Ming.
Armella Margaret Bianchino, 92, died Aug. 30 at Villa St. Joseph, Overland Park. She was born Dec. 1, 1920, at Schoenchen, the daughter of Alex and Regina (Gottschalk) Bieker. She married Sal Bianchino Sept. 18, 1945, at Hays. He died April 25, 2012.
Elaine H. Taylor, 85, died Aug. 30 at Hays Medical Center in Hays. She was born June 20, 1928, at Stafford County, the daughter of Arthur Jacob and Goldie (Gates) Hooper. She was a Great Bend resident most of her life, graduating from Great Bend High School in 1947.
PHILLIPSBURG – Stacy Ann Berends, 36, died Aug. 30, 2013, at Phillipsburg. She was born Dec. 21, 1976, in Kansas City. She was a resident of Hill City and the Philipsburg area for the past 10 years. She was a mother and a homemaker.
