Four students from Barton Community College in the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society were recognized Thursday for being selected as members of the PTK All-Kansas Academic Team during an award luncheon at the Ramada Inn in Topeka.
Filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) can be a daunting task, but Barton Community College's Financial Aid Department will offer students and parents free assistance in making sure the application is filled out correctly. Barton is participating in a national initiative "College Goal Sunday," from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23 in the Learning Resource Center on the Great Bend campus.

The Golden Belt Community Foundation invites proposals for its upcoming competitive grant cycle. Funds are available primarily for the health and well-being of youth; however, limited funds are available in many other categories.

The Kansas Wetlands Education Center announces the winners of the 2014 World Wetlands Day Coloring Contest. World Wetlands Day is celebrated each year on Feb. 2, and is organized by Ramsar, the organization that has designated Cheyenne Bottoms as a "Wetland of International Importance." The theme for 2014's World Wetlands Day was "Wetlands & Agriculture: Partners for Growth." The coloring sheet, featuring ducks and geese, was colored by 2nd grade students from 11 schools in Barton County.
