Evelyn E. (Sooby) Galliart 1925-2013

LARNED - Evelyn E. (Sooby) Galliart, 88, died April 27 at the Pawnee Valley Community Hospital, Larned. Born Feb. 26, 1925 in Larned, she was the daughter of Ben H. Sooby Sr. and Edith (Hays) Sooby, She graduated from Larned High School in 1943. Evelyn married Glenn Galliart on Aug. 8, 1942, at Jetmore. They farmed in the Zook community from 1943 to 1973, when they moved to Texas in order to follow Glenn's work for Federal Crop Insurance. The second place winner was Marcie Schartz, right, a sixth grader from Holy Family School in Great Bend, and the third place winner was Sarah Hammeke, left, a sixth grader from Ellinwood. The contest was sponsored by the Modern Woodmen of America, a fraternal financial services organization.
