TEMPE, Ariz. - Eugene (Gene) Louis Meyer died May 5 at his home in Tempe, Ariz. Born July 11, 1928, in Lorraine, he was the son of Harvey and Delia (Mehl) Meyer. On Jan. 1, 1950, he married LorRetta Keyser at Holyrood. She died April 17, 1995. On April 11, 1999, he married Gladys Whitcombe at Tempe, Ariz. He was a Holyrood area farmer, and an accountant and Realtor in the Phoenix, Ariz., area.

GREAT BEND -- Elizabeth Lula Rose "Betty" Straub, 79, died on May 7 at her home in Great Bend. Born Aug. 10, 1932 in Coodys Bluff, Okla. she was the daughter of Victor and Goldia (Adamson) Coker. She was a graduate of Claflin High School. On Nov. 24, 1952 she married Robert F. Hickey in Hoisington. He died on April 8, 1972. On May 31, 1974 she married Walter Joseph Straub in Hoisington. He died on Jan. 19, 2011. A lifetime resident of Barton County, she was a homemaker.
