Next coffee hour Thursday LARNED - The weekly coffee hour is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Larned High School Gym to promote the upcoming school play "The Masked Musketeer." LARNED - Nineteen Larned High School entries earned a I rating and qualified for state competition in Saturday's Class 3-1A music regional for solo and small emsembles at Larned High School. Class 1A, 2A and 3A schools competed at the regional.

LARNED - Joe Dudley Hicks, 64, died Dec. 9 at his home, Larned. He was born Sept. 19, 1949 in Great Bend, the son of Burl Dudley and Eunice Lucille Shuss Hicks. A lifetime area resident he was a Registered Nurse at the Larned State Hospital for 30 years retiring in 2001.
Carl Marvin Wells, 76, died Dec. 9 at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas. Services are pending with Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Road, Great Bend.
LARNED - Stella Louise Parker, 73, passed away Dec. 7, 2013 at Wesley Towers Retirement Community in Hutchinson.
HUTCHINSON – In the Prairie Nutcracker, 1869 Kansas' dances to life in this new century twist on the traditional ballet. Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker music remains, masterfully adapted by Boston composer, Rick Kuethe, a native of Omaha, Neb. Prairie Nutcracker is a biennial event held on the second weekend in December, odd numbered years, and is produced by Prairie Nutcracker Foundation Inc.
The Prairie Nutcracker will return for its 10th season at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 13 and 14, and at 3 p.m. on Dec. 15, at Hutchinson's Historic Fox Theatre, 18 East 1st.
