​Crime Stoppers seeks recovery of Thompson gun

The theft of a Thompson submachine gun from a Great Bend residence has Crime Stoppers asking the public for information. Police Chief Dean Akings reports the gun, valued at $1,700, was stolen sometime between 4 p.m. on Aug. 27 and 5:11 p.m. on the 28th, from a home at 2821 16th St. "This .45 caliber automatic machine gun was a model T1SB with serial number KH2157," Akings said. Rec Commission to discuss computer upgrades

The Great Bend Recreation Commission will hear a report on new software and the time line for future computer enhancements when the board meets at 4 p.m. Monday at the Carl Soden Recreation Center, 1214 Stone St. There will also be a report on enrollment in youth football, soccer and volleyball.
