Great Bend-Brit Spaugh Zoo is still planning an Earth Day celebration on Friday, but it will not be showing a movie as announced earlier, Zoo Director Scott Gregory said. The zoo will reopen at 6 p.m. Friday for this after-hours event. This event is now free to the public.

Students now have two modern options for living on the Barton County Campus as the brand-spanking new "Bluestem Hall" is ready to house students for the upcoming school year. Dennis A. Munoz, 66, longtime resident of Great Bend, passed away at his Great Bend home on July 9. Memorial services are July 26 at 4 p.m. at Veterans' Memorial Park in Great Bend. A Life Celebration will follow at The Best Western Angus Inn of Great Bend at approximately 5:30 p.m.
