Students rush to compete in Math Relays

The 35th annual Kansas High School Math Relays at Fort Hays State University will be from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 14, in the Memorial Union on the Fort Hays State University campus.

Progress Club meeting

Progress Club met for its October meeting at the home of Kathy Schugart. President Norma Ward presided and Vice President Judy Fox introduced Sally O'Connor of the Great Bend Community Theatre who presented our program. Sally gave a brief history of GBCT and its present home at the Crest. She previewed the upcooming productions and outlined ways Great Bend citizens can participate. The Crest is also available for rental for other events.

Kansans can support the number one industry in the state while providing funds to help educate Kansas youth just by purchasing a specialty license plate for their vehicle.

The Future of Agriculture - Education

This past Thursday Barton Community College hosted over 300 area high school students for the Annual Jack Kilby Science Day. They were exposed to a variety of speakers and topics ranging from the drones and blood typing to biodiesel, chemistry and physics magic. One topic involved soils and their importance to our world, not just in agriculture but in our everyday world. Another part of the soils presentation involved careers in agriculture and the challenge of feeding nine billion people in the next several decades.
