ELLINWOOD - Pamela Sue Reser, 57, died March 25 at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. Born March 5, 1955, in Stafford, she was the daughter of Jerome Otto Werner and Peggy Josephine Smiley Werner. In 1971 she graduated from Campus High School in Haysville. A resident of Ellinwood since 1990, she was employed for the past 18 years by American Family Insurance in Ellinwood as an Office Manager.

William J. “Bill” Welsh Jr. 1936 - 2012

William J. "Bill" Welsh Jr. 76, died March 28 at his home in Great Bend. Born Jan. 19, 1936, at Great Bend, he was the son of William John and Catherine Frances (Befort) Welsh, Sr. He married Mary Agnes Schneweis on May 14, 1960, at Great Bend. She died April 10, 1989. He married Karen A. (Torline) Shore on March 5, 1996, at Las Vegas, Nev. A lifetime Great Bend resident, he was a farmer.

Camp Pawnee benefit surpasses monetary goal

LARNED - The Camp Pawnee Revitalization Project and Larned Pride conducted a successful benefit all-you-can-eat soup lunch recently at the J.A. Haas Exhibit Building. The menu featured chicken and noodles, ham and beans, stew and dessert.The Pawnee Valley Community Hospital contributed $1,000 to help exceed the $2,000 goal with $3,257 donated. Free-will donations provided matching funds for a $2,000 donation from United Way of Central Kansas, which is working with Larned Pride. Business donations are also accepted.

Wanda Lee Deer 1921 - 2015

FREDONIA - Wanda Lee Deer, 93, passed away Sept. 23, 2014 in Wichita. Born on Feb. 28, 1921, in Hoisington, she was the daughter of Frank Edward and Nellie (Coats) Sypolt. On May 19, 1960, she was united in marriage to Kelso Deer. He preceded her in death. She worked as an executive secretary for Phillips Petroleum for many years.

Patrick John O’Connell 1929 - 2015

FRONTENAC - Patrick John O'Connell, 86, passed away at 12:40 p.m. on April 14, 2015 at the Medicalodge of Frontenac. He was born March 29, 1929, in Pittsburg, the son of William F. and Mary (Kinsella) O'Connell. He graduated from St. Mary's High School and later from Pittsburg State University. On June 20, 1954, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Wilson at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He worked for Cripe Bakery and Junge Baking Company as a route salesman.
