A Clinton, Mo., man was injured when he lost control of a Ford van Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 70, 1.5 miles east of the K-14 junction in Ellsworth County. Kansas Highway Patrol reports Brandon Michael Boyd, 19, was taken to Ellsworth Medical Center with unknown injuries. The van was westbound at 3:32 p.m. when it entered the center median. The van rolled once, coming to rest in the eastbound lane. Boyd was wearing a seat belt.
A Holyrood man was taken to Ellinwood District Hospital on Tuesday after a one-vehicle accident in the 300 Block of NE 110 Ave. in Barton County.
Barton Community College will host the Jingle Bell Swing big-band dance, with music provided by the Hilltop Singers and a 16-piece big band made up of area musicians, from 8-10:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 at the Great Bend American Legion, 1011 Kansas Ave.

The Great Bend Post Office is encouraging customers to mail early this holiday season, Postmaster Willie Beamon said. The post office has released its suggested mail-by dates to ensure holiday cards and packages reach their destinations in time.

HUTCHINSON - Bradley J. Van Winkle, 54, passed away peacefully on Nov. 22, at his residence. Born July 13, 1960, in Great Bend, he was the son of James J. and Kathryn (Reidel) Van Winkle. He was raised and received his education in Great Bend, graduating from Great Bend High School in 1979. Brad worked many years farming and more recently running heavy equipment. He was a hard worker before his health
