Duane Eldon Abel, 67, of Ellinwood, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013 at the Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Barnett Family Funeral Home, Oskaloosa. Burial will follow at Buster Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas Soldiers' Home and sent in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at

New gym scoreboard on BCC agenda

The purchase of a four-sided scoreboard for the Barton Community College Gymnasium is on the agenda for the next BCC Board of Trustees meeting, set for 4 p.m. Thursday in room F-30, the Seminar Room of the Fine Arts Building. Cost with installation will be over $62,000, but private funds have been raised to cover $45,000 of the cost. The last scoreboard was installed in 1986.
