Margaret (Marge) Vigna Prosser celebrated her 90th birthday on Oct. 22 with a family dinner and party in Great Bend. Margaret and her great-grandson, Gunner Clark Walker, were the guests of honor. Gunner's first birthday was Oct. 20. On Oct. 29, her children and some of her grandchildren will spend the weekend in Pueblo, Colo. Her children are hosting a reception and dinner in her honor for her nieces, nephews and their families.
John Stang, 2009 GBHS graduate, was named one of 24 George C. Marshall Undergraduate Scholars for 2011-2012. The competition for the post included an essay and review of his undergraduate work to date. John will be conducting historical research under the program. A junior at Roanoke College in Salem, Va., he has been on the Dean's honor roll during his entire tenure at the college.
Keith and Marie Marcum will celebrate their 50th anniversary on Nov. 4 with a card shower. The couple was married at Antioch Church of the Nazarene in Overland Park. Together they have found a friendship and built a beautiful marriage.

Parnassus Club held their annual piano and voice auditions on March 1 at the Barton Community College Fine Arts Building. Twenty-three piano and voice students participated in the auditions open to all Barton County music students. The voice students perform two art songs memorized and piano students perform one memorized solo for an adjudicator who then writes an evaluation of the student's performance and gives awards in both the Junior category,(6th grade through 8th grade) and senior division (high school). The adjudicator for both voice and piano was Ms. Tiffiney Harms, McPherson College music instructor.

Hutchinson Community College has announced the honor rolls for the Fall 2013 semester, including grades through the end of the interterm session. 1,288 students have been honored with selection to the two honor roll listings, with 648 achieving the Vice President's Honor Roll with at least a 3.5 grade point average for the semester.
