Bauer recognized by ElderCare, Inc.

Greg Bauer, attorney with Bauer Pike & Johnson Chtd., was recognized for serving six years on the Board of Directors of ElderCare, Inc. Bauer served as Board president for from 2010 to 2012. Janet Splitter, Executive Director of ElderCare, Inc. presented Bauer a plaque in appreciation of his leadership and counsel guiding the service to older adults. Current members of the Board include: Julie Knoblich, Bernie Jamieson, Barbara Shirk, Larry Collins, Richard VonFeldt, Terry Conard and Robin Fabricius.

Marsh Musings

Our marsh got a sip of water this past week. There was enough rain to put some sheet water in a few spots in the Bottoms and the magic began! Overnight a group of pelicans appeared. Ducks, geese and cranes are suddenly present in significant numbers.

Chiefs split with Dodge City Tuesday

Salon's 'Big Lie' About Guns and Mental Illness

I'm strongly in favor of keeping the mentally ill away from firearms and I'm coming around to approving any policy that keeps crazy 'journalists' away from a keyboard, too. Case in point is Salon.com writer Arthur Chu. His rant titled "It's not about mental illness: The big lie that always follows mass shootings by white males" makes Alex Jones sound like Dr. Phil.

Four local gymnasts compete at Vegas nationals

LAS VEGAS, Nev.- Alexis Folkerts, Jadynce Schroeder, Jordyn Stukey and Cadence Brown competed at this year' s National meet in Las Vegas June 10-13. Schroeder led the quad placing third overall after competing in the vault, bars, beam and floor. Stukey and Folkerts placed fifth and sixth while Brown came in ninth. (Not pictured is Cadence Brown)
