Delores June Clawson 1927 - 2012

LARNED - Delores June Clawson, 84, died Jan. 29 at Hays Medical Center, Hays. She was born June 28, 1927, at Great Bend, the daughter of Joseph and Katie Rowe Koelsch. She married Virgil M. Clawson on March 24, 1955, at Newkirk, Okla. He died on Aug. 11, 2007. A longtime resident of Larned, she was a homemaker and had worked at the Old Blue Goose and Harvest Inn restaurants.

Prescribed burning workshop to be held in St. John

Are you interested in learning more about prescribed burning? Then you need to attend the prescribed burning workshop that will be held from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Feb. 9, at the Stafford County Extension Office, 210 E. Third in St. John. Topics covered will include: reasons for burning; notification; regulations and permits; weather; liability; using a burn contractor and burning assistance; equipment; hazards and firebreaks overview; and planning and conducting a burn.

Boy Scout Soup Dinner

Boy Scout Troop and Pack 184 are having their 41st annual Chili and Chicken Noodle Soup Dinner from 11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Feb. 5 at the Elks Lodge in Great Bend. Regular tickets are $6 for dine in or carry out and include a choice of chili or chicken noodles, a dessert and a drink. Walk-ins are welcome. Gallons are also available by prior purchase only. Cost of gallon of chili is $18 and chicken noodles are $12 per gallon.

Cloud County Community College announces Fall 2011 honor roll

Cloud County Community College has announced the names of students on the Fall 2011 Academic Honor Roll. To be named to the honor roll, students must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours of college coursework and achieve a minimum 3.6 grade point average.
