Mildred F. Sweeden, 85, died April 23 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. She was born June 3, 1925, at Yale, Okla., the daughter of John B. and Anna (Bachalor) Lanning. She married Alvin M. Sweeden Sr. on April 3, 1946, at Stillwater, Okla. He died April 27, 1991. A Great Bend resident for most of her life, she was a homemaker.
KANSAS CITY, MO. - Joseph G. Buehler, 73, a resident of Kansas City, Mo., passed away from complications of Parkinson's disease on April 21 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Holyrood on Dec. 7, 1937, to Carl and Georgia (Dressler) Buehler. He was a graduate of Claflin High School. In 1959, he married Darlene Redetzke in Dubuque.
Cleo May Barton died April 22 at her home in Great Bend. Born in Moscow, Kan., she was the daughter of Roy A. and Bessie E. (Stevens) May. She married C. E. "Clem" Barton on Feb. 14, 1941, at Cimarron. They enjoyed 61 years of marriage. He died Dec. 9, 2002. A Great Bend resident since 1951, coming from Dodge City, she was a homemaker.
WICHITA - Beatrice "Bea" Bissing, 98, entered eternal life on April 20, 2011. She passed away in Denver, Colo., where she has been living since 2001.
Driver swerved to avoid deer A Chevrolet Silverado driven by Avery M. Urban, 15, of Hoisington, went into a ditch around 8:39 p.m. Thursday, after the driver swerved to miss a deer. Kansas Highway Patrol reports the accident occurred 12.8 miles west of Hoisington, and the truck came to rest in some trees. Charles Leroy Buehler, 84, died April 21 at Kansas Medical Center, Andover. He was born July 7, 1926, at Claflin, the son of Charles Rudolph and Josephine Martha (Kooci) Buehler.
