HMSI to hold meeting
HOISINGTON - In December, Hoisington Main Street Inc. mailed out a survey to solicit ideas regarding what people liked the least and best regarding Hoisington's downtown. It asked what types of businesses should be established and events to hold. The results of the survey will be presented at a community meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, at the Hoisington Activity Center meeting room, 1200 Susank Rd. The meeting is open to everyone.

Virginia Manning 1921 - 2013
ELLINWOOD - Virginia Manning, 91, died May 20 at her home in Ellinwood. Born Dec. 16, 1921 in Ellinwood, she was the daughter of E. Aubrey Smith and Hazel Converse Smith. In 1939, she graduated from Ellinwood High School. On May 17, 1940 she married Delmar Manning in Ellinwood. He died on Oct. 11, 2005. A lifetime resident of Ellinwood, she was a homemaker.

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Kansas State reaped the rewards of its first-ever Big 12 baseball championship season as a school-record seven players earned all-conference first-team honors on Tuesday. Wildcats head coach Brad Hill was named coach of the year for the second time.
